No gym for at least 2 weeks now. I've got a ton of excuses, but I really need to get my butt in gear - literally.
But, I figure shoveling a zillion pounds of snow over the last few days has to count for something, right?

Wonder about a bra?
I was in the bra section today at a department store and seriously felt like taking a gun to my head!
Why can this not be a simple task? Why can't I just find the bra I want in the size and color I want and walk away? Really, I'm not that picky. Granted, I'm not the type of person who spends a lot of money on a bra, but just make one easy to find. And if I can find it, I'll buy three of them just so I don't have to come back.
As I'm perusing the racks, I started thinking of a friend (I won't name her) whose son recently asked her why her boobs were pointing down. After we laughed so hard we nearly peed, I started to think about that. Do I need extra support or something now? Do I have to worry about them sagging?
And just as I started worrying about that, I noticed the tags on several bras touting their ability to reduce back rolls. Some had stay-in-place straps (yeah, right). Some vowed to have no-poke underwire. And then there were bras with a deep plunge! Huh? What the hell is a plunge and do I need to get one or do I have it already?
I am too young to cross my heart and too old to show the world cleavage. So where does that leave me? I can't see myself in the underwear section of Bloomingdales being measured for a bra!
So, I pick one out. It was beige and satiny and striped and not bad at all. Had a little padding and an underwire and it looked like it would fit nicely. I got up to the register and leaned over and, as I did, I felt that the cup of my bra might be a little to loose. Are you kidding? After all that time fretting over a bra, I'm going down a cup size?
Why couldn't I have been born a man? That way, I'd get up, put on my boxers and be done with my undergarments!!!!

Happy Birthday Partini
A great drink and a great way to celebrate a birthday. Gotta say I'm blessed with good friends, but really need to spend some time with BFFs MG, MP and AM sans children. When we're together, there are 10 kids there! Ten kids. That's a lot of kids.
But, the kids are so used to each other now that we can sorta hang and let them play until we hear something crash or someone cry.
As we were toasted to my 39th and MPs birthday, I started to feel a bit sad about getting older and not being in a perfect place in my life. Then MGs hubby pointed to his head and said "it's all about how you feel."
"Up here," he said, pointing to his head, "I'm still 18!"
Of course we all laughed at the irony of a 40-year-old man feeling like a teenager (since they act like that half the time). But, he's right. It's a state of mind. I've got to get into a younger person state of mind.

Ouch
When your entire body hurts after you start an exercise regimen, is that a good thing or a bad thing? Am I supposed to push through the pain and keep going? Should I rest on the couch?
When I say hurt, I mean, a general ache all over the place. I think I have tennis elbow. My shoulder and neck are sore. I pulled something somewhere in my lower back or my butt or something. I might have shin splints. My quads are tighter than my 1980s jeans. I've haven't tried bending because something will probably snap. And I definitely have a toe injury but can't determine exactly what or where on my toe it is.
I'm guessing rest, right? Couch? Yeah. Beer? Okay, if you say so. Sometimes we just need to take our medicine!

Do Over
Do you ever wish you could have do-overs in life? I don't mean for little things that get messed up and have easy fixes. I mean big ones - the major decisions you make in life that sometimes turn out wrong.
If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be? I have a lot of things I wish I did differently, but I guess there is a reason for every path we choose. I have made some major mistakes. But, if I didn't make them, I wouldn't have two wonderful children and a life that is good for me.
So, now as I sit and consider the rest of the year and the rest of my life, I wonder what mistakes I will make along the way. Hope it's not too many.
